What's your thoughts on steelpan though! I'm just teasing, it is a common mistake - kettledrums are purely rhythmic, pan is melody....I know i'm pedantic but my Dad would cry if I didn't correct you

Kazoos rock. We have a friend of the family who is a music teacher that set a one time Kazoo orchestra for a bit of laugh. There is no point to that story.

I should upload my less crap version of Spanish Flea sometime, I've practiced a little since then and added a few musical licks.

You didn't happen to see the Melbourne Ukelele Orchesta on Spicks & Specks recently, did you. They did an awesome version of AC/DC's 'Its A Long Way To The Top...', complete with a kazoos replacing the bagpipes bit. It featured about 30 people playing ukeleles and a good third of them had kazoos as well. Sheer musical brilliance

No I didn't but I have seen another Uke orchestra on Youtube at some stage play "Smells Like Teen Spirit". That was hilarious. Only a few weeks ago I saw an amazing uke player called Jake Shimabukuro (playing with Tommy Emmanuel), who is a more serious player. If you haven't heard his stuff should (as Molly Meldrum would say) do yourself a favourite and either buy his CD or look for him on Youtube.

I know he's just unbe-fucking-lievable, and he is so fast he sounds like he's playing about six instruments at once.

As far as I know they haven't produced a CD together or anything. They've played together on tour though - if you're lucky someone might have snuck a video camera into a concert and put it up on Youtube (in fact Tommy joked about it the night we saw him). The cool thing about Tommy's concerts is he actually plays with his support acts rather than just having them play separately (though they do do that as well).

The other cool performer that night was Martin Taylor an excellent guitarist - he is also piss funny as well.

I've not heard of Martin Taylor... The funniest Australian artist I've seen of late is Tim Minchin. We saw him at the Opera House recently and not only is he a very, very good pianist but a great song writer, vocalist and incredilby funny. To quote you quoting Molly, do yourself a favour, if you've not already donw so. He is well worth it.
