It was me; I am the one armed man. A very lucky one armed man I am too. Not only because I happen to have two arms but because I (and my parents) got to meet, in person, the hottest, most intelligent, eloquent, humourous and well loved (by anyone worth a damn) JU blogger. This is only the second time I've meet someone from the internet and I've been lucky both times. As you well know when you meet someone from the internet there is always a chance they are:

A) A psychopathic sexually deviant transsexual truck driver called Barry with a taste for human flesh.
A 13 year old pathological liar using a false identity.
C) Exactly what they said they are.

Of course I actually fit into categories A and B (tasting notes to come) however Texas Wahine is firmly in the C category (though, of course, she is a lot better looking than she thinks she is or pixels could convey). She is everything they say she is on the packet on much more.

I also had the honour of meeting her wonderful family. Adrian is truly what in the Australian vernacular would be called a "top bloke". He has a great sense of humour and is just a really nice guy. I was pretty pissed off that he was being deployed to Iraq before I meet him but now I'm livid. If anything happens to him out there I might have to deploy the "Girly Fists of Fury ™" on those responsible, that is of course if "Firmly Fixed Feet of Fear ™" don't kick in first It is nice to know that Brandie is with a deserving guy. I see an awful lot of great women with stupid guys I just want to smack around with the aforementioned GFF. It was fun to see them playfully teasing each other in the same way TW has conveyed in her articles. They’re a cute couple, but in good way not in an “Oh god get me a bucket!” way.

Her kids are sweet too and are just as she has described them on her blog. They were quite shy when I first met them. This shows that Brandie has obviously taught them about stranger danger. You don't get much stranger than me. Later on though they relaxed and were willing to talk to my parents and I. Budding musician Xavier and I had little chat about the how to choose an electric guitar (My boring pragmatic tonal considerations versus Xavier more exciting aesthetic ones lead me to believe he'd have done well in an 80's rock band). Orian (that’s Or-re-an not O-ryan as I originally thought) who is learning to read was engrossed in our guide to Oahu out of which he read the words currently in his growing vocabulary. He has inspired me to learn to read and write so I can finally dispose of this god awful speech to sex….sextant… texan…*ahem* TEXT!! program. Bloody Mircosoft...

Anyway it was great to meet you Brandie. I highly recommend an in-the-flesh visit to any interested JUers - even if it means selling off a portion of your liver to get out to Hawaii. My best wishes go out to you and your family.

Possibly more photos to come of both my trip to Hawaii and of course my visit with TW. At the moment jet lag has robbed me of my will to scan or resize.

P.S. She isn't really that short nor am I that tall, that part of my sub headline is merely "poetic" licence.

Ha! I saw it first. Early bird catches the worm. (It's just a phrase, I'm not calling anyone a worm.)

Toblerone, you are definitely a lucky man! There may be some here at JU who Brandie wouldn't want to meet, but if she isn't on everyone's list of "JU Bloggers I'd Love To Meet In Person" that is their character flaw.

Glad you both had a great time with the meet up!!!! ::: yeah, I'm jealous :::: ;~D

I really enjoy hearing about real life JU encounters...we need T SHIRTS!!! What a great ad tool for Stardock. Of course Brad may not want some of us representin...hahahahahahah.

Great boobs, I mean photo!

I really am jealous! I haven't seen that beautiful young lady in a LONG time.

Glad you had fun and would love to see some more pics!

Sounds like it went extremely well for both of you, I'm really plzd!

I'm loving the shirt btw....

You're a crack up Toblerone! I am definitely jealous that you got to meet Brandie in person. She sent a nice picture card for christmas to Stardock and sent my family a very thoughtful, fun box of Hawaiian goodies. She's a true sweetheart. Too bad she lives so darned far away! Brandie, if you are ever back in TX I am sure we can get together. Oahu with a new baby just isn't likely at all

It is so cool to hear of great encounters and not behind bars.

Great picture.

I'm even jealous of my past self, it is unlikely we will meet again, at least not for a long time.

Ah yes merchandising, oddly enough the thought never occured to me.

Great boobs, I mean photo!

She has a very nice pair....of eyes. Actually I mean that quite sincerely they're hypnotic.

We have another roll of film to develop and I'll post that later. There are other pics of her whole family too.

Sounds like it went extremely well for both of you, I'm really plzd!I'm loving the shirt btw....

I thought I should dress as touristy as possible, I'm not usually a Hawaiian shirt person.

I'm glad you found my article amusing. She really is a great gal isn't she? I hope you you get to meet her too.

Just a pity about the ugly dude on the right...

Lucky you, Toblerone! (and a hellova view from up there, too

The top of her head is very nice... Honestly though I had more than enough to admire above the neckline (non-physical attributes as well) and I'm no SNAG either unless that stands for Sleazy Neolithic Adolescent Guy.

Glad it went well for her, you were never in danger...hahah!

That isn't entirely true, her husband has combat training and I had to attempt not to drool over her too much.

Tex is about as 'real' as they come on the 'net, and I can say that without ever having met her other than cyberly.

She's real and she's spectacular (as they would say on Seinfeld).

And I wonder which shirt Sally was admiring? It may not have been yours, yanno. Brandie's looks pretty impressive too!

Good point. I assumed that was sarcasm though in which case she must mean mine!

Ah mate, I'm envious of you for a number of reasons: 1. You got to go to Hawaii; 2. You met Tex and her wonderful family; 3. You got to meet TEX...

Lucky man. I knew she was a sweetheart and you've just confirmed it.

How tall are you?

I know I'm lucky in life...if only I could be this lucky in love....*sob*

How tall are you?

I'm only 177cm or 5'9" so about average.
on Jun 05, 2006
Mate, there is very little about you that is average (and this is probably the nicest thing you'll ever hear me say ).
on Jun 06, 2006
This is a great photo and what a wonderful occasion too! And Toblerone, you're selling yourself short! (pun not intentended). Tex is a beautiful sweetheart!
