Where the bloody hell are you?

There has been some recent contraversy over an Australian Tourism ad and the use of uncouth language. I made this video to put things into perspective:

You missed your calling!  That was great!
on Mar 01, 2006
Thankyou muchly.

As for my "calling" I've still got time, I'm only 24, hopefully retirement is a few years away yet

I don't know about the controversy but heheh, I enjoyed that too!

Well, if you have a hankering, I think you would do well in that area!  Go for it!  Thanks for the laugh.

I'm you did. I did intend for it to be funny even to those who don't know about the campaign I'm spoofing.

Oh dear Kenny.

I haven't heard any controversary about that ad - I've seen the ad I thought it was good. They want to talk about controversial ads what about that speeding one when the dad kills the pedestrian mother out with her young baby and they show the blood splattered screaming baby.
I hate that ad.

You're very clever though - you should send that to the chasers war on everything.

Great to hear from you again for the first time in ages. I hope you, Elana and your husband are well

Oh all the contraversy was media beat up, as per usual, I don't think I heard anybody actually complained about it. I don't have anything against the ad, but I do feel that we have come a long way since crocodile dundee and the ad doesn't really show it. People already know about the larakin side of our culture -what about all the other facets of our culture? I don't know, I just htink perhaps we look a bit too much to Australian stereotypes to define our cultural identity. My point is basically maybe our tourism campaigns are playing it a bit too safe.

Ewww, can't say I've seen that one. I wonder if the tactic is effective. I think the idea is that you do hate it - otherwise it wouldn't have any impact.

You're very clever though - you should send that to the chasers war on everything.

Thankyou.
I was half considering it, but I was sort of worried that they'd just end up stealling the idea. That show is great though, I love it. often with those shows they say specifically not to send in ideas, I shall have to check it out though. I sent into Rove Live, oddly enough since I don't think it is anywhere near as good, but I have seen them show stuff from the internet (usually in segments with Pete).

Again great to hear from you again, you're the best.

See I thought about Rove but the language put me off the idea - it would be beeped to all buggery, and would lose it's effectiveness. Whereas they don't care on the ABC.

Think yourself lucky I've seen it once and it freaked me out! Now everytime I hear the beginning about to start (Dad can't get the BBQ to work "What's wrong with it Dad?" son and dad go for drive to get gas...) I turn the tv off - not change the channel not cover my eyes turn it off -- it seriously freaks me out especially since the first time I saw it I had a baby the same age as the one in the ad. It's only shown after 8:30pm.

Meanwhile - I've been reading all your stuff just not replying
And we're all great Elana is almost 27months and doing lots and lots of things - I blogged about them all a month ago and everyone is happy and healthy. Hope the same can be said about you & yours.

Rove is suprisingly conservative for a show on after 9.30. But I've self-censored anyway, I only pronouce the first and last letter of the swears word.

Good to hear. I'm way behind on everybody here since I've been having my sleazy affair with livejournal.

Brilliant. I'm so there. Especially since the reefs are reefier. Many times I think to myself, the reefs here are nice, but they're just not...reefy enough...you know?

You are quite a talented man, Toblerone!

They showed it or something very much like it on the Chaser tonight. Did you send it in or did they just have the same ideas?
on Mar 03, 2006
They just had a very similar idea. Although who knows, it has been on the net for a few days now maybe they nicked it!
